1. Every Child Can Learn Music
My teaching philosophy is heavily influenced by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s “Every Child Can” philosophy. By understanding each child’s learning styles, interests, and physical abilities, every child’s musical talents can be developed through structured lessons, personalized attention, motivation, encouragement, and repetitions. Each child’s learning rate may vary, but every child is capable of a high level of musical achievement.
2. Learning Is Fun!
Learning should be a fun process for students. Students learn better when they enjoy learning and know they are doing well. By incorporating games and fun exercises in lessons, students get a better grasp of complex concepts and difficult techniques. Maximizing the enjoyment of learning enables students to keep their interest in music and alleviate the fear of learning new things. Creating a fun and encouraging environment is a key to optimal learning.
3. Building a Strong Foundation
Building a strong foundation is so essential to lifetime enjoyment and love of music. A strong foundation enables students to be more independent in learning and to have higher self-esteem in approaching more complex tasks. A strong foundation helps students learn more easily and efficiently, while it gives students a sense of direction and a means to reach higher goals.
4. Bringing Out the Best in Students
Bringing out the best qualities and characteristics in each individual through music learning is my utmost goal in teaching. Through music learning, students are able to develop transferable skills and abilities, build self-esteem and confidence, increase discipline and focus, cultivate expressions and logical thinking, and enhance collaboration with others.
